Our Story

It all started with Al Mohammed phoning Al Dhalla: "I have a bed and T.V. that I no longer want, do you know anyone who could use them?" Within a couple of hours another phone call arrived, "I know a family who really needs a bed and a T.V., can you help out?" An 'Aha' moment. Al quickly returned Al Mohammed's call and an idea was made into a reality.

Generously volunteering their time, Al Mohammed and Al Dhalla (the "Two Als" as they are now called) started out with a small pick-up truck, receiving donated household items from people in their community and redistributing them to others. It soon became apparent that there was a great need for their services both from the donors of household items and from the people who needed those items.

In late 2006, the pick-up truck was replaced with a 16 foot box moving truck which is used daily to transport furniture and household items.

In late 2007, a generous anonymous donor provided another 1 ton truck.  This truck is also seeing plenty of daily use. This is an excellent example of people helping people within a community.

Today, Feed-A-Need has 4 trucks, 7 warehouse storage units (one of which is rented), and 10 volunteers who strive every day to make a difference in the lives of others.
